What is Vestibular Rehabilitation ?
Why is vestibular rehabilitation important?
Once a diagnosis is established, vestibular rehabilitation helps retrain your brain to correctly process information from the balance, hearing, vision, and movement systems.
Rehabilitation aims to:
Reduce dizziness, vertigo, and imbalance
Improve stability and confidence
Restore daily activities and functional independence
Support long-term recovery and quality of life
Personalised vestibular rehabilitation at The Art of Hearing
Effective vestibular rehabilitation must be personalised. Although standard rehabilitation frameworks exist, no two people experience vestibular difficulties in the same way.
Our programmes are tailored to your diagnosis, symptoms, vestibular–hearing interactions, lifestyle, and goals.
Rehabilitation may include:
Gaze stabilisation exercises
Balance and gait training
Habituation exercises
Home exercise programmes
Use of apps
Use of on loan high tech take-home equipment
Falls-risk guidance and safe return-to-activity planning
Rehabilitation is delivered through face-to-face sessions, supported by structured home programmes to ensure continuity and progress.
At The Art of Hearing you may be offered a digital platform through which we can prescribe, monitor and progress evidence-based vestibular rehabilitation exercises. This is offered through a mobile phone application and a head sensor.
The exercise programme is prescribed through a smartphone app with instructional videos, reducing the chance of forgetting how to perform the exercises correctly. A Bluetooth head sensor is worn behind your ear to measure head movement during exercises. It provides you with immediate feedback on whether you are performing the movements at the correct speed and range, while giving the Audiologist objective performance data.
Though this digital platform we can monitor your:
Exercise adherence and accuracy
Progress over time
Symptom scores
Performance data
Personalised and holistic rehabilitation plans have the potential to improve your quality of life.
